Dispatch and Field, Finally Aligned

One Map, One Plan

One live map for dispatch and the field: smarter routing, clearer ETAs, fewer missed stops.

  • Planned vs driven route, compared for you
  • No second app for drivers
  • Routing weighs fuel cost and wear

Daily Operations

Everyone Works From the Same Map

When the office sees what the field sees, the day runs smoother for both.

Route planning and job flow

Sequence stops sensibly and adjust as the day changes.

Live dispatch visibility

See who is closest, who is running late, and who is free next.

Stop tracking and ETAs

Give customers real arrival windows instead of guesses.

Fewer status calls

Radio chatter falls off when the office answers its own where-is-everyone questions from the map, so drivers stay on the job.

What Changes

Calmer Dispatch, Tighter ETAs, More Stops Closed

More stops per day

Smarter routing trims the miles between stops, and the saved windshield time compounds into extra stops closed.

Happier customers

Accurate ETAs and faster service build trust.

Calmer dispatch

Less radio traffic, fewer surprises, smoother shifts.

Zones Do The Work

A Zone Drawn Once, Reused Everywhere

Customer sites, yards, and home bases become reusable geofences that drive the day's records.

  • Time on site: how long each vehicle actually spends at a stop, per visit.
  • Entry and exit alerts the moment a vehicle reaches a customer, yard, or restricted area, including after hours.
  • Time-stamped arrival and departure records that back up billing and proof of service.

Advanced Routing

Advanced Routing, for Fleets That Live and Die by the Schedule

Live visibility answers "where are they." Advanced Routing answers "where should they be." An optional add-on to the tracking you already run, built for light-duty fleets running 5+ stops per driver per day.

01
Route

Builds optimized multi-stop plans against your priorities, using predictive road speeds and driver matching.

02
Dispatch

Manages the day as it changes: cancellations, emergencies, and the who-takes-this-call decision, in near real time.

03
Territory

Carves service areas so crews stop crossing each other's coverage.

04
Mobile

Puts assigned stops in the driver's hands in the app they already use, syncing both ways with dispatch, so the office and the cab always hold the same plan.

Fuel cost and vehicle wear factor into route decisions alongside arrival windows. It is the engine behind field service fleets adding stops to the day and storm response dispatch for utility fleets.

The Vendor's Numbers

What Geotab Claims It Is Worth

Geotab's routing playbook claims 15-30% less mileage and 2-3 more jobs per technician per day (Geotab, 2025).

Treat those as the vendor's numbers. We baseline a month of your actual routes and show you your number before you subscribe.

Plan vs Actual: The Report That Makes Routing Honest

Planned stops versus completed, planned miles versus driven, planned windows versus arrival times.

Optimization without verification is a brochure. Plan vs Actual is the audit, and it runs automatically.

The coordination hub

One Screen for the Whole Day

Map, alerts, and today's plan in a single view. The map carries live status, the alert feed carries what broke overnight, and the plan updates as stops close, so dispatch runs the day from one screen instead of three tools and a radio.

Morning fleet card: 14 driving, 3 idling, 7 stopped across all vehicles

Questions

Fleet Coordination FAQ

How does this help dispatch?

Live location, trip history, and zones give dispatch accurate ETAs and the context to reroute quickly.

What happens when a route changes mid-day?

Dispatch resequences or reassigns stops in near real time, and the driver sees the change immediately, so a cancellation or an emergency does not turn into a round of phone calls.

Does it reduce missed stops?

Clearer routing and real-time visibility help teams stay aligned and cut missed or late stops.

Is Advanced Routing included with tracking?

No, it is an optional add-on to your tracking subscription. Basic routing is included; the optimization, dispatch, territory, and driver-sync modules are the paid tier. We help you decide with your own baseline data whether the mileage math covers the cost.

How many stops per day makes it worthwhile?

Geotab's own fit threshold is quoted in the Advanced Routing section above. Below it, the built-in tools usually carry you. At or above it, sequencing errors compound fast enough to pay for optimization.

Do drivers need a second app?

No. Assigned routes, same-day changes, and dispatch messages all arrive in the same driver app used for logs and inspections, and their progress syncs back to the office automatically. There is nothing new to install.
