When every mile has a record

Accountability for every transport mile

Secure transport demands a record. Geotab documents every route, stop, and exception.

  • Complete route history for every transport
  • Geofence and speed rules enforced automatically
  • Audit-ready records with controlled access

Chain of Accountability

The record keeps itself

Routes, stops, speeds, and exceptions logged automatically, visible only to the roles you authorize.

Complete trip records

Every transport documented from departure to arrival.

Rule violations flagged

Route deviations and speeding surface immediately.

Role-based access

Movement data opens only for the staff you clear, so a transport route never reaches a desk that should not see it.

Audit reporting

Clean, consistent records for reviews and investigations.

What Changes

What your operation gets out of it

Defensible records

Complete documentation for every question that comes later.

Oversight without ride-alongs

One supervisor reviews every route from the desk, so oversight no longer rides on who was in the vehicle that day.

Our Advice

What we typically configure for correctional transport

Transport and staff vehicles

Next-Gen GO: remote commands from MyGeotab, including disabling a restart after unauthorized use, under a policy your agency defines.

In-cab documentation

GO Focus Plus AI cameras: event footage that resolves disputes, privacy configurable to policy.

Route adherence

Approved-route geofences with deviation alerts, timestamps, and speed rules enforced automatically.

Access control

Role-based clearances restrict movement data to authorized staff, with an audit log.

The Real Problems

Three exposures a corrections fleet carries

01
Unauthorized use

After-hours movement alerts surface it immediately, and the GO10 can block an unauthorized restart under agency-defined policy.

02
The unprovable allegation

Trip records plus event video replace recollection with evidence: 35% fewer injury crashes when video is paired with coaching (J.J. Keller, 2023).

03
The audit

Scheduled reports produce the same format every time, so a review board or records request is answered without a scramble.

Built for accountability

What we set up for correctional transport

Secure transport runs on documentation. Here is how we configure a corrections fleet so the record builds itself, mile by mile.

Hardware built for gov

GO9 or Next-Gen GO in transport and staff vehicles, on government-grade validated hardware.

Live oversight

Supervisor map access scoped by role, configured before day one.

Records-request ready

History indexed by transport, date, and vehicle, so a specific record pulls in seconds when a board or attorney asks.

In-cab video to policy

GO Focus Plus footage with retention and privacy configured to your agency's rules.

Cooperative purchasing

Buy through the cooperative contracts your procurement office already recognizes, with no separate bid cycle to run.

Proven in the public sector

Geotab serves 2,900+ public-sector customers and 1 million+ subscriptions (Geotab, 2024).

Configured, not generic

Rules tuned to your operation

We set the zones, thresholds, and alerts for how your fleet actually works.

Questions

Correctional services FAQ

Is the hardware actually certified for government use?

Yes, and specifically: Geotab GO9-family and GO Rugged devices carry FIPS 140-3 validation, Certificate #4875. Geotab's cloud platform serves government fleets across North America, and data access inside MyGeotab is controlled by role-based clearances with audit logging.

Can we buy without running an RFP?

In most cases, yes. Geotab is available through Sourcewell contract 102924-GEO (valid through April 2029) and NASPO ValuePoint contract MA3695. We have walked agencies through both.

Can we set strict alerts and zones?

Custom rule sets and geofences flag off-route travel, after-hours movement, and other exceptions instantly.

How does remote immobilization work, and is it safe?

The GO10 executes commands sent from MyGeotab, including disabling a vehicle from restarting after unauthorized use is flagged. It is a policy tool, not a movie stunt: your agency defines who can trigger it and under what conditions, and we configure it to that policy.

Who can pull a transport record, and how is access tracked?

Trip and event history is retained in MyGeotab and available long after a transport. Pulling a specific record is a role-based action: only the staff your agency clears can open or export it, and every access is written to an audit log, so each record carries its own chain of custody.
