Trust

Proven standards, not promises

The same platform trusted by government fleets protects your data too.

Verified certifications

FedRAMP, ISO 27001, and FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography.

Encryption throughout

Data protected in transit and at rest.

Role-based access

Each user sees exactly what their role requires, nothing more.

Transparency

Know how your fleet data is used and protected, always.

What Changes

What your fleet gets out of it

Passes procurement review

Security documentation that satisfies IT and legal, plus a ready procurement path: Geotab's Sourcewell cooperative contract 102924-GEO, valid through April 2029.

Privacy by design

Answer HR and legal's driver-privacy questions up front, before they stall a deployment.

Government-grade trust

Credentials already vetted for federal workloads, so your team inherits that review instead of auditing from scratch.

The Certificates, Precisely

Numbers your IT team can look up

FIPS 140-3, certificate #4875

Validated cryptography covering the GO9 device family and GO Rugged. When procurement asks for the certificate number, you have one to give them, verifiable in the NIST database.

FedRAMP Authorized

Cloud platform cleared for U.S. government workloads. Honest footnote your federal IT team will appreciate: some newer modules, including Geotab Ace and the Sustainability Overview, are not currently available on FedRAMP instances.

ISO 27001 certified

Information security management, independently audited.

AI And Your Data

What the AI assistant is allowed to do: read

Security reviews in 2026 always reach the same question: what does the AI touch?

Geotab Ace is read-only: it analyzes data but cannot change it, never trains public AI models, and masks PII automatically. Bring your IT team's AI questionnaire; this one has real answers.

Sharing without surrendering

When an insurer, maintenance provider, or agency partner needs your data, Geotab Data Sharing handles it as a request-and-accept transaction between databases: you approve the specific recipient and the specific data, and you can end it.

No CSV emailed to a broker, no standing API key nobody remembers issuing. The audit log records who saw what, when.

A closer look

Controls you configure and audit

Beyond the certificates, these are the day-to-day controls your team sets and your auditors can inspect.

Privacy controls

Driver privacy settings and data handling you configure to match policy.

Roles and audit logs

Scope each user to what their job needs; every login and change is time-stamped.

Your data, owned by you

Clear ownership and export controls, with sharing you approve recipient by recipient.

Offline included

Encrypted even between coverage

Data queues on the device and forwards encrypted once a connection returns.

Questions

Data security FAQ

How is fleet data protected?

Geotab applies end-to-end encryption, independent security assessments, and a defense-in-depth architecture. Security is central to the platform, not an add-on.

Is Geotab used by government and enterprise?

Yes. Geotab meets rigorous public-sector and enterprise security standards and is trusted by large regulated fleets.

Who owns the data?

Your fleet data is yours. You control access and can export it through the platform.

Our procurement requires a FIPS certificate number. Is there one?

Yes: FIPS 140-3, certificate #4875, covering the GO9 device family and GO Rugged cryptographic modules.

Does the AI assistant create a new data exposure?

No. Geotab Ace is read-only by design, masks PII, respects existing user permissions, and your data is never used to train public AI models, so there is no new way in.

Can we share data with a partner without giving them platform access?

Yes. Geotab Data Sharing sends defined data to a specific recipient's database on a request-and-accept basis you control, which is how insurer and maintenance integrations work without anyone touching your login.
