Welcome to this month’s edition of What in the World! … of Telematics. Each month, we break down the latest MyGeotab updates and highlight the improvements that help fleet managers save time, reduce costs, and improve overall safety. The July 2025 update introduces refinements that enhance the user experience, improve reporting accuracy, and expand the tools available to streamline fleet management.
Key Highlights of the July 2025 MyGeotab Update:
AI-Powered Support Assistant:
Geotab has launched an AI Assistant on their support portal. Now, when you search for answers, expect faster, smarter, AI-driven responses that help connect you directly with the info you need in record time.
Smarter Emissions Compliance (Firmware Update):
A critical update now enables intelligent protocol detection-between J1939 and J1979-for heavy-duty trucks stuck in "No Complete Cycles/Pending Enrollment" status in the CARB Clean Truck Check. This ensures more accurate emissions data capture. The firmware update is rolling out via feature flag, while public API access is currently in beta.
Phasing Out the Driver Installation Wizard (DIW):
By August 30, 2025, the DIW tool will be retired. All installation workflows, including IOX-COLD and IOX-UREADER support, will move into MyInstall within MyAdmin. EU installers are encouraged to prepare by creating secure MyAdmin logins and partner installer accounts.
Video Filter for Dismissed Events:
The Video Recording page in MyGeotab now automatically filters out all dismissed events, making it easier for users to locate videos and events that still require action. By removing clutter, fleets can quickly focus on the clips that matter most. If needed, dismissed recordings can still be viewed by opening the Filters menu and checking the option for “Include dismissed exception recordings.”

These improvements are all about making MyGeotab easier to use, faster to learn, and smarter to manage. Onboarding gets users running quickly, dashboards become more insightful, and report navigation is less overwhelming. Plus, staying informed on Known Issues means fewer surprises during downtime.
