Welcome back to another edition of “What in the World! … of Telematics”, your go-to monthly update from GPSFMS where we translate the latest Geotab advancements into real-world value for your fleet. May’s rollout is packed with improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency, video visibility, safety insights, and user experience across the board.
Native Video is Here – Camera Add-In Deprecation
Starting June 2025, the Geotab Camera Add-In will be deprecated, as all functionality is now baked directly into MyGeotab’s native video platform.
Action Required:
Update Security Clearances to access integrated video features.
Update Bookmarks — the old Add-In links will no longer work.
The Cameras & Video submenu under "Safety" will be removed by mid-June.
Why this matters:
Clients can now access a more seamless video experience right inside MyGeotab - no more toggling between platforms. But don’t wait: without updated clearances, pop-ups will block access to your videos.
Better Trip Clarity with Restricted Data Mode (Beta)
If you're using Restricted Data Mode, MyGeotab now separates trips using non-restricted data like ignition activity - instead of lumping everything into one long drive.
Key Benefits:
Get clearer trip segmentation
Access fuel usage, productivity, and engine diagnostics even without GPS
Instant trip recalibration when your database updates
GPSFMS Insight: This change makes Restricted Mode more usable in real-world applications, especially for sensitive fleets or compliance-heavy industries.

IOX-WRKS Firmware v28 – Big Win for Public Works
A new firmware update (v28) is now live in the Early Access Channel, offering major improvements for Public Works clients using Marwis and DICKEY-john controllers.
Highlights:
Accurate road condition parsing from Marwis
Corrected variability in material reporting for DICKEY-john
Faster data delivery & broader controller support
Perfect for municipalities and contractors managing complex road treatment equipment.
Enhanced Routing & Optimization Tools
May's release levels up the Advanced Routing & Optimization features with smarter planning and better resource categorization.
New Admin Features:
Resource Profiles: Custom route parameters per vehicle/driver
Resource Types: Designate Trucks vs. Trailers for better capacity planning
Plus, a new Bill of Materials feature is rolling out:
Add materials to appointments via CSV upload, schedule board, or mobile app
These tools are setting the stage for future vehicle capacity optimization.

Say Hello to Snap2Road 2.0
Geotab’s GPS mapping just got smarter with the rollout of Snap2Road 2.0 - a more accurate algorithm that better aligns GPS data with road segments.
Benefits:
Fewer false speeding alerts
Improved route accuracy
Better detection of missed events
Rolled out to most databases already - no action needed on your end.
Exceptions Page Gets a Facelift (Beta)
If you've ever waited forever for your Exceptions page to load, you’ll love this: the redesigned Beta version is now available with:
Faster load times
Cleaner layout with smoother transitions
Time zones displayed in local time for devices and drivers
Great for large fleets juggling multiple exception types across regions.

Risk Analytics Now in the Drive App
Previously only accessible through MyGeotab, Risk Analytics is now available in the Geotab Drive App, offering drivers real-time insight into their collision risk.
What it shows:
Collision probability per vehicle and across the fleet
Data based on over 4.7 million assets
Safety scoring using Geotab’s standardized exception models
This helps drivers self-correct behaviors - and gives managers and drivers a shared understanding of safety performance.

Wrapping It Up
May's updates continue Geotab’s trend toward integration, clarity, and smarter insights - and at GPSFMS, we’re here to help you make the most of them. Whether you’re navigating the native video shift or diving into driver-facing analytics, we’ve got your back.
