Geotab GO9 Installation Steps

1.) Record the Serial Number
This port is typically beneath the dashboard at or below knee level on the driver’s side.
2.) Inspect the Equipment
Align the device connector with the port and push firmly until it’s fully seated. The device will emit six quick beeps to indicate connection.
3.) Check the LED lights.
Red LED: device configuration
Green LED: cellular network connection
Blue LED: GPS network connection
The LEDs blink during setup and turn solid once configuration is complete. Initial setup may take 10-15 minutes.
4.) Listen for 10 quick beeps.
When you hear this sequence and see solid green and blue lights, the device is fully connected. Secure it using a cable tie to prevent vibration or accidental disconnection.
5.) Position the device correctly.
If you’re using an extension harness under the dash, ensure the label and antenna side face upward toward the sky for optimal GPS performance.
6.) Verify communication.
Contact GPSFMS to confirm status & communication to your database.

1.) Record the Device Serial Number
Before installation, locate and note the serial number printed on the GO Rugged device label. GPSFMS will need this to confirm communication after setup.
2.) Inspect the Vehicle and Device
Ensure the vehicle is in good working order with no active dashboard alerts.
Confirm the GO Rugged and harness are free of damage before connecting.
3.) Select the Correct Harness
The GO Rugged uses specialized weatherproof harnesses (e.g., HRN-RS12S2, HRN-GR09K1, HRN-RW03K4).
Contact GPSFMS prior to installation to confirm the correct harness and configuration for your vehicle type.
4.) Mount the Device Securely
Choose a location that’s shielded from water spray, debris, and vibration, yet allows the device label to face upward for the strongest GPS signal.
Secure the device and harness using cable ties or brackets - never let it hang loosely or rest on moving components.
5.) Connect Power and Ground
Using the approved harness, connect the GO Rugged to the vehicle’s power (12V/24V) and ground.
Avoid sharp edges or heat exposure when routing the cables.
The GO Rugged automatically calibrates when powered.
6.) Power Up and Verify Installation
The device will emit six short beeps to indicate successful startup. Contact GPSFMS to confirm status & communication
Important: For rugged, off-road, or outdoor environments, always use the GO Rugged’s IP68/IP69K-rated connectors and ensure all harness seals are firmly locked.

Geotab GO Anywhere Installation Steps

1.) Record the Device Serial Number
Before beginning installation, locate and record the serial number printed on the device label. You’ll need this to confirm setup and communication with GPSFMS.
2.) Prepare the Asset Surface
Choose a clean, flat, and dry surface for mounting. The GO Anywhere should be placed with the label facing upward and a clear view of the sky for the best GPS performance.
3.) Mount the Device Securely
The GO Anywhere can be mounted using the included magnetic base or industrial adhesive tape.
For stationary or low-vibration assets, the magnetic mount is acceptable.
For trailers, equipment, or vehicles, secure the unit with screws, adhesive, or brackets to prevent detachment.
Note: Magnetic mounts are not suitable for highway use due to potential vibration or detachment risks.
4.) Activate the Device
Remove the magnet from the bottom of the device to power it on. The LED located beneath the label will light up to indicate activation.
Activation should be performed outdoors or near a clear sky view to ensure strong GPS and LTE signals.
5.) Confirm Activation and Communication
After activation, contact GPSFMS to confirm that your device is successfully connected and reporting in your MyGeotab account.
6.) Position and Secure Final Installation
Once GPSFMS confirms communication, ensure the device is fully secured in its mounting position using cable ties, screws, or adhesive as needed for the environment.
